Ballet "On the Grid" Adults - Develop clarity, exactitude, and precision in body placement and spatial orientation through classic ballet. Geared toward modern and contemporary dancers. Please wear ballet shoes, socks acceptable.

Fundamentals of Dance Technique Adults – Movement blends concepts from technical modern dance with eastern principals of yoga—to help dancers sing dynamically with their bodies and increase their conscious dancing.

Int/Advanced Modern Dance Adults – Shineflug is one of Chicago’s finest teachers; her technique classes focus on establishing a solid center/core of the body, then challenging it in new ways. Nana’s movement blends concepts from technical modern dance with eastern principals of yoga—to help dancers sing dynamically with their bodies and increase their conscious dancing. Live accompaniment by Barry Bennett, CMC composer-in-residence.

Int/Advanced Modern Dance Adults – Cindy Brandle teaches classes that combine luscious, athletic movement with articulate gestures.
Tue/Thur 10:15-11:45 am.
Teacher: Cindy Brandle. Class costs $10, $9 professional dancers. Monies for class are payable directly to Cindy Brandle.

Psychocalisthenics Adults, all levels – Bring a yoga mat! Physical movement exercises that are magical & empower the body; based on the teachings of Oscar Ixazo.

Qi Gong Adults – This ancient practice is an extension of Tai Chi. Here the Chi (energy) is used to help heal the body through the Soaring Crane form.

Tai Chi Chaun Adults – Tai Chi Chaun is a subtle and complex system of movement--the culmination of over 4000 years of Chinese culture. Slow, rhythmic movement focuses the mind, purges the body of chronic tension, and returns the skeletal structure and organs to their natural alignment. The immune system is enhanced and muscle strength is reintegrated while relieving and increasing ones reslience to stress.

Summer Yoga Adults - alternately challenging and relaxing, this class is a gentle strength and stretching workout for the whole body. Elements of Hatha Yoga and Pilates both appear in this beginning level class. Please wear comfortable clothes.

Registration Park District Community Classes
You can register for community classes (Creative Movement, Yoga, Martial Arts, Qi Gong, Moms/Pops/Tots-Movement & Music) with the Chicago Park District, online at chicagoparkdistrict.com or in person at the first floor lobby-desk, Hamlin Park Fieldhouse, 3035 N. Hoyne, corner of Barry and Hoyne in Chicago. Class sizes are limited. Payments for these classes are made to the Chicago Park District and must be made at the time of registration. Session dates and registration dates are given below. These classes are provided to the public through the Chicago Park District’s Arts Partners Program. Arts Partners is a program of the Chicago Park District that unites artists and communities in Chicago Parks. This year CMC celebrates our lucky 13th anniversary as Arts Partner in Residence at Hamlin Park.

Creative Movement, on break for summer ages 3-5 year olds – Creative play and dance combine to develop beginning movement skills and self- expression. Through music, movement activities, and games kids will learn to work together, communicate ideas, and discover ways to use their bodies.

Martial Arts - Stretch/Strengthen, on summer break 5th and 6th graders – Flexibility and strength training, along with the basics of martial arts, are all essential tools for the young adult. This class aims to help build a foundation for a healthy body and self-confidence, in a non-threatening environment. There will be no sparring (fighting) or major contact. No experience necessary.
