CMC Class Rates

Payments for these classes can be made out to the Chicago Moving Company unless otherwise noted.

Regular Rate - $10/class, $9 for professional dancers.
10-class card* for $80. Discounted Rate(Pyschocalisthenics) - $7/class or pay what you can.
Guest Artist - Rates may vary. Check listings.

Park District Community Classes:
Pre-registration is required for these classes during Spring, Summer & Fall sessions. Payments for these classes are made to the Chicago Park District online at chicagoparkdistrict.com

CLASS UPDATES--Drop-in classes require no pre-registration and are ongoing, so get moving . . . The following session-based classes do require registration (moms/pops/tots, Music and Movement, Yoga, and Qi Gong) and run for a 10-weeks beginning Jan 9, 2012. Dance Improvisation with Ayako Kato is back, beginning Weds Feb 1!

Pyschocalisthenics - Adults. Physcocalisthenics is the physical practice of master teacher Oscar Ichazo. Accompanied by Winston Damon.
Tuesdays, 5-6 pm.
Teacher: Nana Shineflug. No class on holidays.

Beginning Dance - Adults. This class can be taken by anyone who wants to learn the fundamentals of powerful fluid movement, from beginner to advanced dancer. Accompanist: Winston Damon
Tuesdays, 6-7:30 pm.

Dance Improvisation - Adults. Engage in long-form improvisation technique to develop your skills and practice of dance improvisation performance. Aiming at the best composition in the moment, participants will explore physical and mental preparation, technical and structural matters, and philosophical ideas. You will learn how to improvise as a group, work with live improvised music, and have the opportunity to work with music improvisors.

Int/Advanced Modern Dance - Adults. Live accompaniment by Barry Bennett, CMC composer-in-residence.
Fridays, 10-11:30 am..

Tai Chi - Adults. The fun, flowing martial art.
Sundays, 2-3 pm. Tai Chi - Standard 48 form by Master Linag Shou-Yu and basic Ga Gua circle walking. $10/class or $70 for 10 consecutive classes.

Registration Park District Community Classes
You can register for community classes (Creative Movement, Yoga, Qi Gong, Moms/Pops/Tots-Movement & Music) with the Chicago Park District, online at chicagoparkdistrict.com or in person at the first floor lobby-desk, Hamlin Park Fieldhouse, 3035 N. Hoyne, corner of Barry and Hoyne in Chicago. Class sizes are limited. Payments for these classes are made to the Chicago Park District and must be made at the time of registration. Session dates and registration dates are given below. These classes are provided to the public through the Chicago Park District's Arts Partners Program. Arts Partners is a program of the Chicago Park District that unites artists and communities in Chicago Parks. This year CMC celebrates our 16th anniversary as Arts Partner in Residence at Hamlin Park.

Community Classes

Winter Session 2012: Jan 9 - March 25. Register for winter session beginning 11/28 online here at chicagoparkdistrict.com or in person at the Hamlin Park Fieldhouse lobby desk beginning 12/3. In-person registration is ongoing until classes are filled.

Moms, Pops, Tots: Interaction - ages 18 mos - 3 yrs : Toddlers play music and movement games and build physical and learning skills. Parent or caregiver remains with the child.

Qi Gong - Adults. This ancient practice is an extension of Tai Chi. Here the Chi (energy) is used to help heal the body through the Soaring Crane form.

Music and Movement - ages 3-5 year olds. Creative play and dance combine to develop beginning movement skills and self- expression. Through music, movement activities, and games kids will learn to work together, communicate ideas, and discover ways to use their bodies.

Basic Yoga - Adults 18 and older. Alternately challenging and relaxing, this class is a gentle strength and stretching workout for the whole body. Hatha Yoga is the focus of this beginning level class; elements of Pilates also appear in the Saturday class. Please wear comfortable clothes.
